How to Expand Canva Slides to Canva Whiteboard

Expanding a Canva slide into a whiteboard is useful if you want to put more content or more elements into your presentation. It is particularly helpful for interactive collaborative sessions. You can work with multiple people on a document or on a slide presentation in real time.
If you are timing slides for a video export, you may also want to change slide duration in Canva video so pacing matches your whiteboard flow.

Enable whiteboard on a slide
Make sure you enable the thumbnail view.

If your Canva document does not show slide thumbnails, click Thumbnail View to reveal the thumbnails of all the slides in the document.
On the slide where you want Whiteboard mode, right click and choose Expand to whiteboard.

The page becomes a whiteboard with much more space to work.

If your presentation includes video elements you plan to bring into another deck, see how to insert a Canva video in Google Slides so everything carries over cleanly.
Zoom and navigate the whiteboard
Use the zoom control and drag it to the left or to the right to zoom out and zoom in.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut: hold Control and scroll the mouse wheel up or down to adjust the zoom level of the page.

Collapse back to slides
When you are done, go back to the regular view.

Right click the page and choose Collapse whiteboard.

Everything returns to the normal slide layout.

If you are creating visuals to place on your whiteboard, you can also create a 3D book cover in Canva and add it as a focal design element.
Final thoughts
That is exactly how you can enable and collapse Whiteboard mode on a slide presentation in Canva.

Toggle it when you need more space, zoom as needed with the control or Control plus mouse scroll, and return to the slide layout when you are finished.
