How to Change Gradient Colors in Canva

I will show you how you can change the gradient color in Canva. I have a page with a nice green to blue gradient, and this effect comes from the Gradient section in Canva. It is one of many presets you can apply to an element or a background in your Canva design.
Usually you can click any preset and the effect is applied immediately. Sometimes you might want to fine tune the color or use a completely different set of colors. For beginners it can be confusing where to change the settings, especially when moving from a solid fill to a gradient, and if you need to adjust the backdrop first, see how to change the background color.
Change Gradient Colors in Canva basics
Select the element or background that already uses a gradient preset in your Canva editor.

Look at the top area of the editor, and you will see the color controls where you can add a new color. It usually shows the colors currently used on the gradient.

Make sure you are in the editor and the element is selected. You can click the color tiles to open the color picker and add your own custom color.
Drag the gradient control point to the exact color you want. You can input a hex code or move the slider until you get the shade you like.

You can also change the style or orientation of the gradient. There are a few presets you can choose to rotate or flip the direction of the blend.

If you want to expand the blend, you can add a new color stop. For example, add a red color to see how it mixes with the existing stops.

If your work calls for a simpler look, you can also change a solid color gradient with the same editor controls.
Color choices for Change Gradient Colors in Canva
I do not recommend choosing gradient colors randomly. Gradient color harmony matters, and you should pick colors that work well together.
A resource I recommend is uigradients.com. There are many presets carefully chosen by professionals, and if a combination interests you, click it, copy the color code, and apply it to your Canva background.

If you need those picks to match your brand kit, learn how to apply brand colors to Canva templates so your gradients stay consistent.
Apply picked colors
I am going to apply an effect from UI Gradients as an example. I copy the color codes I like and paste them into the color picker for each gradient stop in Canva.

Canva does not have that exact color by default, so I create my own by entering the hex codes. This gives me the result I want, and the custom gradient looks great.

Final thoughts
Changing gradient colors in Canva is easy once you know where the color stops and orientation controls live. Add your own colors, adjust the direction, and use well chosen palettes to get a professional result. Pick from trusted gradient collections or your brand kit, and your designs will look refined and consistent.
