How to Make Text Animate Line by Line in Canva

I will show you how you can add a text animation sequence in Canva, especially making the text appear one line at a time. This is very useful if you want your text to be more attractive and gain attention from viewers. Instead of having the text appear all at once on the entrance or on the exit, you can make the text appear one line, one word, or one letter at a time.

You can start from the first line, then the second line, third line, fourth line, and so on. This creates a clear reading flow and keeps people focused on what matters. If you are styling headlines, you might also want curved layouts, so see how to create circle text in Canva for a matching look.

Click on the text box and open Animate. Select the Text section, not Page animation. Choose Text animation so the effect applies to the text content inside the box.

There is an option for General, which applies the effect to the entire object. We are not going to use that for this. Go to the Suggested options that are specifically created for text content.

Pick the right animation

You can preview all the animation styles by hovering your cursor to see them play. There is a Typewriter option that looks like someone is typing the whole text. There is also Ascend, which is the one I am going to use.

Show by line, word, or letter

In Writing style, this animation by default will make the text appear one word at a time. Change it to Line to make the whole line appear, then move on to the second line, third line, and so on. This is the key setting to make text animate line by line in Canva.
